Polish polls reveal split views on Zelensky award, Morawiecki party and national outlook

A CBOS poll found that 59 % of Poles consider President Karol Nawrocki’s decision to strip Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky of the Order of the White Eagle justified, while 28 % disagree. Opinions on the move’s impact are evenly split, with 41 % seeing more losses than gains for Poland and the same share seeing the opposite. A large majority (84 %) says Poland should react when other states glorify figures linked to crimes against Poles, and 44 % believe Ukrainians have the right to honour their own historical heroes despite Polish disputes.

In a separate Onet‑commissioned SW Research survey, about 30 % of respondents think former Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki’s creation of a new party would worsen the right‑wing situation, 28 % expect no impact and 16 % foresee an improvement.

CBOS also reported that 51 % of Poles view the current political climate negatively, up from previous months, while only 28 % believe the country is heading in a good direction, down from 31 % in June. Economic assessments show 34 % rating the economy as good, 30 % as bad and 32 % as neutral.

A separate cultural‑health study highlighted that 43 % of Poles feel anger or irritation, 32 % report apathy, and only a small share engage in artistic activities (5 % in visual arts, 4‑5 % in music or dance). The report stresses the mental‑health benefits of artistic involvement.
