Polish qualifier Maja Chwalinska lands in Roland‑Garros women’s final
Polish 24‑year‑old Maja Chwalinska, world No. 114, became the first qualifier to reach the women’s final at Roland‑Garros. She will face 19‑year‑old Russian Mirra Andreeva, world No. 8, on Saturday 6 June 2026. The match will be shown live on France 2 and Amazon Prime Video from 15:00 local time.
Chwalinska’s run included victories over Diana Shnaider, Anna Kalinskaya, British player Parry and Martens, losing only one set since the third round. Andreeva defeated Marta Kostyuk in the semi‑final and earlier beat Cîrstea, Teichmann, Bouzkova and Bassols. If she wins, Chwalinska would become the second qualifier ever to capture a Grand Slam title, after Emma Raducanu’s 2021 US Open triumph. After her quarter‑final win she said, “Ça ressemble à un rêve. Je ne sais pas ce qui m’arrive.”
