Polish qualifier Maja Chwalińska reaches Roland Garros final

Maja Chwalińska became the first player to advance from the qualifying rounds to the women's singles final at Roland Garros. The 21‑year‑old entered the tournament as the 113th‑ranked player, won eleven consecutive matches—including six in qualifying—and finished the event ranked 21st, more than doubling her career prize earnings.

Her run attracted massive support from Polish fans and athletes, with the Polish press shifting focus from Iga Świątek to the “Cinderella” story of Chwalińska. In the final she faced Russian teenager Anastasia Andreeva, who defeated her 6‑3 after a marathon semi‑final.
