Polish railway companies undergo infrastructure upgrades and leadership shifts

PKP Polskie Linie Kolejowe (PKP PLK) has completed several infrastructure modernization projects in the Lublin region, funded by the National Recovery and Resilience Plan (KPO). Key upgrades include the implementation of a Central Dynamic Passenger Information System on the Lublin–Otwock route, featuring over 290 electronic displays across 41 stations, along with new audio and video monitoring systems.

Additional improvements include the launch of the Zawada Local Traffic Control Center (LCS) to coordinate operations across three railway lines, and the modernization of platforms at Borowina and Hordzieżka stations. The projects also involved replacing approximately 25 km of track and upgrading safety systems at numerous level crossings.

Separately, PKP CARGO is facing delays in its restructuring process. Following a court decision in Warsaw that transferred full management of the company to an administrator due to a lack of agreement with creditors, the company's schedule for presenting debt repayment proposals has been adjusted. This leadership shift led to the resignation of President Zbigniew Prus and two board members, with Monika Starecka appointed to temporarily perform presidential duties.
