Polish railway heritage celebrates historic trains with 'Nieśpieszny' trips and Bydgoszcz anniversary

PKP Intercity will operate the nostalgic "Nieśpieszny" train through the Podkarpacie region in mid‑August. Tickets go on sale on 15‑16 July. The service uses restored historic rolling stock, including the EP05‑23 electric locomotive and classic 1st‑ and 2nd‑class wagons from the 1980s, and offers a 20 % discount on selected overnight accommodation for online purchasers.

In Bydgoszcz, the city marks the 175th anniversary of its railway line with an exhibition at the House of Railway Tradition. Visitors can explore railway memorabilia, ride a simulator of the SU45 diesel locomotive, and travel on a restored Ikarus 280 bus that tours the historic depot. The event highlights the region’s railway history, from the opening of the Eastern Railway in 1851 to present‑day heritage preservation.
