Polish raspberry growers eye autumn harvest to offset summer losses

Autumn raspberry harvests have begun in Poland, with extra-class fruit currently priced at approximately 19–20 PLN per kg. For many growers, these autumn varieties represent a critical opportunity to recover financial losses following a weak summer season characterized by low yields.

While prices remain relatively high, total production volume is a concern. Some growers report low harvest amounts due to cool nights slowing the ripening process. For example, one producer in the Lubelszczyzna region reported collecting only about 200 kg from a two-hectare plot during a recent harvest.

Growers are employing various techniques, such as applying potassium and calcium to root systems, to support fruit development, though weather conditions remain the decisive factor. There is also growing concern regarding next year's season, as some summer raspberry varieties showed poor new shoot development, leading some producers to consider liquidating existing crops to start anew.
