Polish regional environmental fund warns of scammers posing as staff in Rzeszów

The Wojewódzki Fundusz Ochrony Środowiska i Gospodarki Wodnej (WFOŚiGW) in Rzeszów has issued a warning that individuals are impersonating its employees. Scammers have made false house visits, placed suspicious phone calls, and suggested that paying money will expedite funding applications. The fund clarifies that only members of the External Control Team may conduct home visits, and they must carry a written mandate signed by the fund’s president. Beneficiaries are always notified in advance of any scheduled visit.

Residents are urged to verify identities by requesting to see the official mandate and a personal ID, and to confirm the visit by calling the fund at 17 742 70 14. WFOŚiGW states that its staff never call from restricted numbers, never request money for faster processing, and do not collaborate with consulting or promotional firms for its “Clean Air” or water retention projects. The fund advises anyone suspecting fraud to report it to the appropriate authorities and directly to the fund.
