Polish regional rail and bus services report significant passenger growth

Regional rail operators in Poland are reporting significant increases in passenger numbers through new connections and integrated bus services.

In Lower Silesia, Koleje Dolnośląskie has seen a surge in popularity for its bus services that act as rail extensions to areas currently lacking train tracks. The D92 line, serving Stronie Śląskie, recorded over 111,000 passengers last year, with monthly figures exceeding 11,000 in September 2025. Additional bus lines have been launched to connect Syców and Góra to the rail network to improve accessibility for commuters and tourists.

Similarly, Koleje Śląskie reported high ridership on its S34 line connecting Częstochowa and Kraków. The service, which utilizes modern Elf train sets, saw nearly 39,000 passengers in its first month of operation in September 2025, growing to nearly 68,000 passengers in May of the following year. The route has improved connectivity for several towns, including Sosnowiec and Dąbrowa Górnicza, by offering travel times approximately 30 minutes faster than driving.
