Polish rescue volunteers Kacper Musiałowski and Przemek severely injured; fundraising drives launched

Kacper Musiałowski, a 24‑year‑old policeman and OSP volunteer from the Łódź region, was critically injured on 28 June 2026 when a drunk driver struck his group while they were assisting a stranded car. He suffered a head injury, was air‑lifted to a Warsaw hospital and, after being taken off a respirator on 6 July, remains in intensive care and requires extensive rehabilitation. Local volunteer fire stations organized a push‑up challenge and an online collection to finance his treatment.

Przemek, a physical‑education teacher and long‑time GOPR/WOPR rescue worker, was seriously hurt on 27 June 2026 in Italy after a car collided with his motorcycle. He was rescued by helicopter and taken to a hospital in Graz, where doctors documented bilateral lung contusions, multiple rib fractures, spleen damage and irreversible spinal‑cord injury, leaving him paraplegic from the waist down. After several complex operations he was transferred on 16 July to the Górnośląskie Centre in Katowice‑Ochojec. His family has launched a fundraiser to cover medical expenses, rehabilitation and home adaptations.

Both cases have mobilised community support across Poland, with volunteer organisations and the public contributing to fundraising efforts for the victims’ ongoing care.
