Polish research finds appearance biases shape attraction and hiring decisions

A survey of 2,000 Polish women reported that baldness, confidence and a muscular build rank among the most attractive male traits, while blue eyes and facial hair also score highly. Less desired features include blond hair, green eyes, chest hair, tattoos and piercings.

A separate study by Dr Martyna Krogulec‑Łęska at the Akademia Humanistyczno‑Ekonomiczna in Łódź showed that more than 80 % of recruiters favor slim candidates over equally qualified heavier ones. In recruitment experiments, 82.1 % preferred a slim woman for a managerial role, 80.6 % chose a slim man, and 83.5 % selected slim applicants even for positions requiring advanced knowledge such as doctors. The research highlights the prevalence of "weightism" and the influence of physical appearance on employment decisions in Poland.
