Polish researchers secure prestigious ERC and Horizon Europe grants

Six researchers from Polish institutions, including the University of Warsaw, Jagiellonian University, University of Gdańsk, and the Tadeusz Manteuffel Institute of History of the Polish Academy of Sciences, have been awarded prestigious ERC Starting Grants. These grants, provided by the European Research Council, support early-career scientists in establishing independent research teams for ambitious projects, with budgets reaching up to 1.5 million euros over five years.

Among the recipients from the University of Warsaw, Dr. Agnieszka Radziwinowicz will investigate the legal, political, and social dimensions of deportations to countries previously considered unsafe, such as Afghanistan, Syria, Ukraine, and Venezuela. Additionally, three research teams from the University of Warsaw have secured funding through the Horizon Europe WIDERA Twinning program. These projects, led by Professors Łukasz Drewniak, Magdalena Stobińska-Moretto, and Dariusz Plewczyński, aim to strengthen international research cooperation and knowledge exchange with leading European scientific centers over a 36-month period.
