Polish retailer OBI and mBank post robust earnings
Poland's DIY retailer OBI, operated by Superhobby Market Budowlany Sp. z o.o., closed 2025 with a net profit of PLN 68.46 million, an increase of PLN 1.80 million year‑on‑year despite a decline in industry revenues. The company cut operating costs, paid a dividend and bolstered its cash cushion.
mBank reported its strongest quarterly net profit ever in Q2 2026, up 10.5% from the same period last year and 11.2% versus the previous quarter. The bank’s net profit for the first half of 2026 reached PLN 2.013 billion, a 20.9% rise from the prior year. Growth was driven by higher interest income (up 2.6%), while fee income fell slightly and costs were reduced, aided by lower legal‑risk provisions. mBank expects total 2026 revenue to exceed the 2025 level and aims to keep its cost‑to‑income ratio below 35%.
