Polish rural development and agricultural challenges discussed

A conference titled ‘The Future of the Polish Countryside in Women’s Hands’ was held in Warsaw on October 12–13, 2026. Organized by the Council for Women and Families in Rural Areas and the Mazovian Chamber of Agriculture, the event focused on the role of women in rural development, demographic shifts, and agricultural innovation.

Discussions addressed the challenges of retaining young people in rural areas, noting that decisions to stay depend on economic security, access to transport, education, housing, and stable employment. The conference also highlighted the mental health of rural youth and the increasing role of women in farming, noting that in 2023, women managed 31.5% of agricultural holdings in the European Union.

In separate regional developments, the Wielkopolska Chamber of Agriculture reported on various local matters, including the confirmation of the 55th outbreak of Newcastle disease in Polish poultry, specifically affecting a flock of 473,170 laying hens in Dusznikach.
