Polish rural municipalities secure 2026 subsidy reserve and infrastructure funds

The Association of Rural Municipalities of the Republic of Poland (ZGWRP) negotiated the division of the general subsidy reserve for 2026, securing 361,260,883 zł (80% of the reserve) to supplement the incomes of financially weaker local government units. The agreement will benefit 233 municipalities, with 122,168,570 zł directly allocated to those whose 2026 revenues fall below 106.7% of 2025 levels. The funding also includes a “solidarity fund” that distributes resources to 226 rural municipalities, including 54 ZGWRP members.

In addition to income support, the reserve is earmarked for key sectors: 414.5 million zł for road infrastructure (with 339,569,069 zł for local and county roads), 342 million zł for social assistance and substitute care, and nearly 280 million zł for education. Separately, the Nyskie Duchy of Lakes and Mountains is seeking public comments on detailed criteria for selecting operations and assigning points for the 2026 call for applications under the Common Agricultural Policy Strategic Plan, with feedback due by 30 June 2026.

These measures aim to improve the transparency, competitiveness, and adequacy of funding for rural communities and to align financial support with local development needs.
