Polish schools honor Catholic saints through naming ceremonies
Several educational institutions in Poland have held ceremonies to honor Catholic figures through official naming. In Przyłęk, the local primary school officially adopted the name of Saint Maximilian Maria Kolbe, effective September 1, 2026. A formal celebration was scheduled for October 17, 2026, beginning with a Holy Mass at the local chapel to mark the symbolic new chapter for the school community.
In Łubno, Archbishop Adam Szal presided over ceremonies for the primary school to receive the name of Saint John Paul II. The event included the consecration of a new school banner and a commemorative plaque. During the ceremony, the Archbishop noted that there are currently 1,070 schools in Poland named after Saint John Paul II.
Additionally, in Janów Lubelski, a musical performance was held at a local high school as part of the Christian Culture Week, titled ‘Ways of Mercy’. The concert utilized music, dance, and theater to reflect on the teachings and legacy of Saint John Paul II.
