Polish schools host local checkers tournaments

On 18 June, the first Gmina Szczecinek checkers tournament was held at the primary school in Wierzchowo, Poland, with pupils from four local schools competing. Michał Weddaz of the Wierzchowo school won the event, while Marcel Peruga and Dominik Norkowski took second and third places respectively.

A separate checkers competition took place in the Sieradz county, featuring junior (under 15) and senior (16 and older) categories. Igor Bernacik claimed first place in the junior group, and Paweł Olejnik topped the senior division. The tournaments were organized to promote strategic thinking, concentration and logical planning among young participants and to encourage ongoing involvement in the game across the region.
