Polish schools host outdoor reading events for children
In the Lubin municipality, the public library in Raszówka organized a reading‑promotion event for first‑grade pupils and six‑year‑old preschoolers. Illusionist Piotr Szumny combined magic tricks with stories in a program called “Reading is magic,” demonstrating how literature can captivate imagination. Participants performed tricks, drew illustrations and received stickers as rewards.
Separately, students from Public Primary School No. 4 in Radomsko joined the international “Reading on the Meadow” initiative. The outdoor activity encouraged children to read Polish and foreign titles, including popular series and books in English, while enjoying games, crafts and snacks under the trees. Teachers and librarians coordinated the event, which has grown from a local project to an international action.
Both events aimed to foster a love of books among young readers, linking literature with play, nature and creativity.
