Polish schools participate in ‘Narodowe Czytanie’ reading campaign

Educational institutions in Poland are participating in the 15th edition of the ‘Narodowe Czytanie’ (National Reading) campaign, focusing on Adam Mickiewicz’s romantic drama ‘Dziady’.

In Starachowice, students and educators at the ZSZ nr 1 boarding school engaged in analyzing and reading fragments of the second part of the play. To better understand the mystical atmosphere of the work, participants viewed film segments depicting spirit summoning, which facilitated discussions on the text's moral messages and Mickiewicz’s biography.

In Nielepice, students from grades VII and VIII at the Bohaterów Westerplatte Primary School transformed the reading into a theatrical performance. Using costumes, candlelight, smoke, and folk music, the students recreated the atmosphere of a mysterious chapel to bring the classical text to life through acting and scenography.
