Polish scientists develop AI to assist in lung cancer patient care

Wrocław University of Science and Technology and the Lower Silesian Oncology, Pulmonology and Hematology Center have launched the ‘Poland AI for Health’ project. The initiative aims to develop a specialized artificial intelligence system designed to assist medical professionals in managing patient care.

The initial focus of the technology will be on lung cancer patients. Rather than replacing oncologists, the AI is intended to streamline administrative and diagnostic workflows by analyzing patient data, identifying missing test results, and flagging potential delays in treatment. By ensuring doctors have complete documentation at the right time, the system seeks to prevent delays in medical consultations and therapy starts. The long-term goal is to implement this technology in hospitals across Poland.
