Polish Sejm adopts resolution honoring Volhynian massacre victims

The Sejm unanimously passed a resolution commemorating the victims of Ukrainian nationalist atrocities committed in the eastern territories of the Second Polish Republic during 1939‑1947. The motion marks the 83rd anniversary of the Volhynian massacre and was adopted by acclamation, with 441 deputies voting in favour. After the vote, MPs rose from their seats and applauded, while Speaker Włodzimierz Czarzasty led the standing ovation.

The resolution expresses gratitude to Ukrainian individuals who risked their lives to rescue Polish neighbours and underscores the ongoing exhumation and dignified burial work carried out by the Institute of National Remembrance at sites such as Ostrówki and Wola Ostrowicka. Lawmakers urged historians and public figures to avoid distorting the historical record, emphasizing the importance of truthful remembrance.
