Polish Sejm approves law to speed up nuclear power plant investments

The Sejm has passed an amendment to the law governing nuclear energy projects. The new rules create a special category of building permits that allows early construction work on nuclear facilities before full project documentation is completed. It also introduces specific safety and radiological approvals for initial works, clarifies terminology in the nuclear legal framework, and aims to reduce delays that have slowed past projects. The legislation maintains high nuclear safety standards, with any critical work requiring the consent of the head of the State Atomic Energy Agency. By allowing staged development, the government expects faster project timelines and greater investment predictability for Poland’s nuclear power programme.
