Polish seniors fall victim to fraud and homicide

An 87‑year‑old man from the Zgorzelec area lost a total of 360,000 zloty after scammers pretended to be hospital staff and a courier, claiming his relatives needed urgent, costly medical treatment. Police warned the public to verify such requests and to disconnect suspicious calls.

Separately, the body of an older man was discovered on a forest parking area near the DK22 road close to Czersk, alongside an abandoned taxi. Investigators announced a search for a man identified as Mateusz G., believed to have crucial information about the case. He was later apprehended in Gdańsk. The investigation remains ongoing.

Both incidents highlight rising crimes targeting senior citizens in Poland.
