Polish series 'Ranczo' unveils new cast, defends Daniel Olbrychski

The Polish sitcom "Ranczo" is set to return with a six‑episode season titled "Ranczo: Zemsta wiedźm". Director Wojciech Adamczyk confirmed that nine actresses will join the show as a group of witches, listing Monika Pawlicka, Magdalena Wróbel, Katarzyna Maciąg, Paulina Chapko, Karolina Chapko, Kalina Poks, Anna Sroka‑Hryn, Joanna Stanecka and Dorota Stalińska.

The same announcement confirmed veteran actor Daniel Olbrychski will appear as Ignacy Japycz, the cousin of a local character. After a producer’s comment was misread, some fans mistakenly thought Olbrychski would replace the late Franciszek Pieczka, sparking criticism of the actor’s political statements. Adamczyk appealed for viewers to separate the actor’s private views from his role, emphasizing freedom of speech and urging the audience to judge the performance rather than the person.
