Polish Space Agency and Wody Polskie partner on satellite water monitoring

The Polish Space Agency (POLSA) and the state water management entity Wody Polskie have signed a cooperation agreement to utilize satellite data for water resource management. The partnership aims to enhance flood protection, drought mitigation, and the monitoring of river basins, valleys, and water reservoirs.

By integrating Earth observation data with ground-based hydrological measurements, the initiative seeks to improve the National Satellite Information System (NSIS). This will support public tasks and increase national resilience to environmental and climate threats. The collaboration will specifically leverage radar observations, which allow for monitoring during nighttime and cloudy conditions, providing critical data during intense rainfall and flood events.
