Polish Stock Market Hits Record High as KGHM and Banks Lead Gains

The Warsaw Stock Exchange’s WIG20 index surged to a new intraday record, breaking past the 3,900‑point level and approaching the psychological 4,000‑point barrier. Strong buying pressure was driven by bank stocks, which lifted the WIG‑Banks sub‑index by 3.06%, and by KGHM Polska Miedź, whose shares rose 5.06% after copper prices increased 1.6%.

Total turnover on the market reached about 2.86 billion PLN, with blue‑chip stocks accounting for over 2.43 billion PLN. The broader WIG index also climbed above the 146,000‑point mark for the first time, edging close to the 150,000‑point psychological level.

In the same week, investors will receive seven half‑year earnings reports on the exchange, including Alior Bank and Orlen from the WIG20, ASBIS from the mWIG40, and Asseco Business Solutions and Mennica Polska from the sWIG80, alongside a report from Hungary’s MOL.
