The fresh strawberry season has begun across Poland, with locally grown berries now appearing in markets and at farm stalls. Rich in vitamin C, potassium and fiber while low in calories, the fruit is not only suited for desserts but also works well in savory preparations such as sauces for meat, salads, pasta, rice and even as a topping for grilled cheese or fish.

Consumers can tell whether strawberries are Polish by checking the stems: supple, green pedicels and a white‑to‑pale edge near the stem usually indicate imported fruit that was harvested early. Fully red berries with bright color right to the green crown and a strong natural aroma are typical of fresh, domestic harvests. Prices typically range from 25 to 30 zł, and the fruit is widely available from markets, street vendors and directly from growers.
