Polish students increasingly use AI for learning amid digital safety concerns

Recent studies in Poland highlight a shifting digital landscape for students, characterized by the rapid integration of artificial intelligence and ongoing challenges with online safety.

A survey commissioned by Empik reveals that 51% of parents support the use of AI in school education. The use of AI tools for learning has seen a significant increase, with 72% of parents observing their children using AI for educational purposes, up from 39% a year ago. Students primarily use these tools to find information, explain difficult concepts, and practice foreign languages. Despite this support for digital competence, two-thirds of parents advocate for restricting smartphone use in classrooms to minimize distractions.

Simultaneously, reports on digital childhood indicate high levels of internet penetration among youth, with nearly 100% of 15–18-year-olds online. Data shows that many children bypass age restrictions on social media platforms; for instance, approximately 760,000 children aged 7–12 in Poland use TikTok. Concerns regarding safety remain high, as research from the Fundacja Dajemy Dzieciom Siłę indicates that 87% of students have experienced some form of peer violence in the last year, including cyberbullying.
