Polish sugar beet farmers face profitability concerns despite high yields
Despite achieving record yields of over 80 tons of sugar beets per hectare with a 16.3 percent sugar content, Polish farmer Piotr Łukaszewski expresses concerns regarding the future profitability of the crop.
While the current growing season in the Wielkopolska region was successful due to favorable vegetation despite periodic water shortages, market trends suggest a decline in prices. Estimates indicate that sugar beet prices could drop from 30 euros per ton in the current season to approximately 26 euros in the next, potentially prompting growers to adjust their crop structures.
