Polish police launch nationwide summer water‑safety campaign

During the 2026 summer season Polish police and rescue services have intensified safety actions across the country. At the Mechelinki “Na fali” festival officers warned families to use supervised beaches, follow flag signals and keep children in sight. In Kraków municipal guards recorded 98 public‑order violations on popular waterfront promenades, issuing fines and warnings. Mazovian authorities reported 16 drownings since the start of the season and highlighted 114 marked “black water points” to remind swimmers of hazardous spots. The Water Rescue Service (WOPR) and local police continue joint patrols on lakes such as Czorsztyńskie, Dobczyckie and Mucharskie, providing contact numbers for emergencies. Silesian police, under the “Safe Summer 2026” program, patrol beaches and advise users of kayaks, SUP boards and motor craft to wear life jackets, hold proper licences and avoid alcohol. In Polkowice, female officers educated children on beach safety, proper gear and responsible internet use during a summer action program. The Płock municipal rescue team also introduced the “First Responder” app to speed first‑aid alerts near waterways. Together these coordinated measures aim to reduce accidents and improve public awareness as large numbers of residents and tourists enjoy Poland’s water‑based recreation.
