Polish tax authorities increase scrutiny of bank transfers and cryptocurrency
Polish tax authorities are intensifying their monitoring of bank account operations to combat tax evasion. According to experts, officials are paying particular attention to cryptocurrency profits and transactions related to platforms such as Zondacrypto.
Authorities are utilizing the Common Reporting Standard (CRS), a mechanism used by OECD member states to exchange data regarding the tax status of citizens. This system allows tax administrations to obtain information on bank accounts held abroad, helping to detect instances where taxpayers attempt to hide income in foreign jurisdictions.
In addition to automated data exchange, tax offices may initiate investigations based on whistleblower reports or suspicious signals detected during routine monitoring. Current verification efforts are notably focused on settlements from 2021.
