Polish tax authority uncovers over‑1 million zł VAT underreporting by Podkarpackie firm

The National Revenue Administration (Krajowa Administracja Skarbowa) in the Podkarpackie region identified a company that had declared zero turnover for a period, while its business partners reported VAT‑taxable purchases with the firm. Analysis of JPK_VAT files revealed an under‑declared taxable base of more than 1.2 million zł and unpaid VAT of over 100 thousand zł.

The taxpayer submitted a corrected JPK_V7M filing, paid the outstanding tax and the case was closed without a formal audit. The incident is part of a broader verification programme that in 2025 uncovered tax shortfalls totalling over 708 million zł, about 300 million zł of which were detected through such checking activities.
