Polish teams head to European Championships in Birmingham and Loznica

Poland will field a 74‑member athletics squad at the European Championships in Birmingham from 10 to 16 August, including 17 athletes from clubs affiliated with the Rural Sports Association (LZS). The team, described by Polish Athletics Federation president Sebastian Chmara as a blend of experienced competitors and youth, aims to add to the 185 medals Poland has previously won at the event. The upcoming championships are also a preview for Poland’s role as host of the 2026 European Athletics Championships in Chorzów.

In boxing, a 10‑man Polish junior team will compete at the European Junior Championships in Loznica, Serbia, beginning 11 August. Aleksander Sikora, a 90 kg boxer from Bokserski Klub Street Autonomy, entered the squad after strong performances at the Brandenburg Cup, including a win over last year’s European vice‑champion. The boxers are completing their final training camp in Giżycko before traveling to Serbia to contest for medals.
