Polish television sees new adaptations and series returns

Recent Polish television productions are generating significant discussion. New interpretations of Bolesław Prus’s classic novel ‘Lalka’ have sparked debate, including Paweł Maślona’s Netflix series and Maciej Kawalski’s film. While the film follows a traditional approach, the Netflix series is described as a modern variation inspired by the novel rather than a direct adaptation, featuring new characters and a fast-paced, dramatic style.

Additionally, the popular series ‘Matki Pingwinów’ (Penguin Mothers) is returning for a second season on Netflix. Following the first season, which focused on Kama Barska and her journey navigating her son’s autism diagnosis, the new season follows the characters approximately eighteen months later. The plot centers on the protagonists attempting to establish their own school, ‘Biegun Szczęścia’, to meet the specific needs of neuroatypical children.
