Polish tennis star Maja Chwalińska reaches Roland Garros final, then injures ankle at Wimbledon

Maja Chwalińska, a 25‑year‑old from Dąbrowa Górnicza, qualified for the 2026 French Open and became the first qualifier in history to reach the Roland Garros final. She defeated higher‑ranked opponents, including Diana Sznajder, before losing the final to Mirra Andreeva 3‑6, 2‑6.

A few weeks later at Wimbledon, Chwalińska started her first‑round singles match strongly but slipped and suffered an ankle sprain.
