Polish tennis star Maja Chwalińska seeded 20th at Wimbledon after wildcard entry

Maja Chwalińska, ranked No. 21 on the WTA tour, was granted a wildcard into the Wimbledon main draw and received a seed of No. 20, a position higher than her current ranking. The Polish player earned the boost after reaching the French Open final, becoming the first Polish woman since Patty Schnyder in 2004 to obtain both a Wimbledon wildcard and a seeding. Wimbledon will be contested from 29 June to 12 July.

At the same time, the WTA 500 event in Berlin featured top players such as Aryna Sabalenka, Jessica Pegula, Jelena Rybakina, Coco Gauff and Iga Świątek as they prepared for the grass‑court season. Sabalenka defeated Pegula 6‑4, 6‑4 to advance to the semifinals. The Berlin tournament serves as a key warm‑up for Wimbledon, where Chwalińska will now compete with her new seed.
