Polish theatre actors Anna Iberszer and Beata Ścibakówna detail love lives and career challenges
Anna Iberszer, a Polish actress, choreographer and flamenco/tango dancer, met her future husband, actor Tomasz Drabek, while rehearsing for a 2010 production of "Mistrz & Małgorzata story" at the Teatr Polski in Bielsk‑Biała. Their relationship progressed from dance lessons to marriage, and they welcomed a son, Karol, in 2012. Iberszer has spoken publicly about their supportive partnership, shared travels to Italy, and his presence during her parents' deaths in 2023.
Beata Ścibakówna, also a Polish actress, recalls receiving a role offer from Jan Englert early in her career, which later led to their marriage. Since Englert became artistic director of the National Theatre in 2003, Ścibakówna reports being typecast as the "wife of a famous actor" and struggling to secure substantial roles, especially for women over 50. She has voiced frustration over limited casting opportunities and the perception that her career advances are linked to her husband’s prominence.
