Polish tourist Grzegorz K. confirmed dead after disappearance in Turkey

Grzegorz K., a 44‑year‑old Polish tourist, vanished on 17 June while staying in Kemer on Turkey’s Riviera. After leaving his hotel for a cigarette, he failed to return, prompting his family to alert Polish authorities. Turkish gendarmerie, intelligence services and an international investigative team launched a large‑scale search that included hospital checks, CCTV reviews, taxi‑stand sweeps and coastline patrols.

The operation continued for several days and on 22 June teams discovered a body in a forested area near Kemer. Detective Dawid Burzacki, coordinating the multinational effort, said the remains are highly likely to be those of Grzegorz K. The Turkish police have opened a criminal investigation, while Polish officials are being asked to cooperate. The family has expressed doubts about preliminary reports suggesting suicide, demanding a thorough examination of monitoring footage, phone records and other evidence.

The case remains under investigation, with the identity of the deceased pending autopsy results and official confirmation from both Turkish and Polish authorities.
