Polish tourists surge to Czech Republic, Czechs shop in Poland

Data from Czech Tourism shows that Polish travellers spent 8.2% more nights in the Czech Republic between January and April this year, adding 42,590 overnight stays compared with the same period last year. Prague remained the top destination with 188,147 nights, while the Moravian‑Silesian region recorded the strongest growth at 45.3%, followed by the Pardubice (43.8%) and Olomouc (37.8%) areas.

Czech shoppers are also crossing the border in large numbers to take advantage of lower prices in Poland. One shopper reported saving roughly 1,000 CZK (about 170 zł) on a single visit, noting that cheese, butter, yogurt, meat and household chemicals cost up to a third less in Polish stores. The regularity of these trips, often once a month, highlights a growing pattern of price‑driven cross‑border shopping between the two neighbours.
