Polish towns roll out sports facilities and road upgrades
Local authorities across Poland are carrying out a wave of infrastructure projects funded by regional programmes and EU grants.
In Brodnica, a 195 570 zł renovation of the "Moje Boisko – Orlik 2012" locker rooms will improve hygiene and safety. Katowice’s primary school in Giszowce received a 2.9 million zł modern sports complex, including a sand‑free football pitch, volleyball court, street‑ball fields and barrier‑free access. The Gmina Krotoszyn project in Biadek was shortlisted for a 399 970 zł subsidy to build a multifunctional sports field.
Road upgrades are also under way: Bochnia County will spend over 4.5 million zł widening and reconstructing a county road in Gierczyce, while Skoki municipality signed a 6.4 million zł contract to widen and refurbish the road linking Sława Wielkopolska with Szczodrochowo, adding pedestrian and cyclist lanes. The municipal stadium in Sław was officially opened after extensive modernization.
Other initiatives include a complete overhaul of a Białołęka playground, a “Green Heart of the Region 2028” plan in Lesko that adds riverfront promenades, playgrounds, a climbing wall and beach‑volleyball court, and a €1.587 million grant for a fully accessible swimming pool in Zduńska Wola.
