Polish Towns Forum addresses sustainable development and local funding

The VI Forum of Polish Towns (VI Forum Miasteczek Polskich) has commenced in Warsaw, focusing on the theme of sustainable development. The event, organized by the Union of Polish Towns and ACF Local Government Advisors, highlights the importance of supporting smaller municipalities, where approximately 70 percent of Poland's population resides.

During inaugural speeches, political figures from various sides expressed support for the growth of small towns. Mateusz Morawiecki addressed the challenges of local government financing, noting that current systems often favor large cities. He highlighted issues such as reduced funds from the KPO, the lack of continuity from the Polish Deal (Polski Ład), and difficulties in funding education.

Additionally, Adam Andruszkiewicz, representing the Chancellery of the President of Poland, conveyed a message of openness and cooperation toward local government officials. Waldemar Pawlak also contributed to the discussion, suggesting investments in competent rescue services rather than the construction of shelters.
