Polish towns grapple with courtyard revitalisation projects

In Świdnica, the municipal administration spent over 80,000 zł on a design for revamping a central courtyard but, three years later, officials say no implementation plan exists. Residents and a local councilor have repeatedly called for at least temporary repairs to the deteriorating road and lighting, citing safety concerns.

Conversely, the city of Oława has launched a 5.1 million zł investment to fully redevelop a courtyard in the Przedmieście Oławskie district. The project, overseen by the Municipal Assets Management Board, includes a modern playground, new LED lighting, upgraded pathways, parking spaces, drainage, and green areas, with completion targeted for spring 2027.
