Polish towns hold Volhynia genocide remembrance marches in July 2026
On July 11, 2026, a Volhynian March will move through the streets of Nowy Sącz, starting at the market at 13:00 and ending at the Old Cemetery near the Piracki Monument. Organisers describe the event as a patriotic tribute to the victims of the 1939‑1947 atrocities committed against Poles in Volhynia and eastern Lesser Poland.
In the same week, Legnica County authorities will host a series of remembrance activities from July 5 to July 10, 2026. The programme includes a solemn Mass at the Church of St. John the Baptist, wreath‑laying ceremonies at the Legnica Cathedral and other memorial sites, seminars on historical truth, and artistic performances featuring songs and poems from the region. Both events aim to preserve historical memory and honour the thousands of civilian victims of the conflict.
