Polish towns honor historic Ulan regiment and mark local sporting and cultural anniversaries

In Bydgoszcz, celebrations were held for the 16th Greater Poland Ulan Regiment, a unit with a long history dating back to the Polish‑Soviet war and the 1939 defensive campaign. The program included a mass at the Cathedral of St. Martin and Nicholas, a procession to Bydgoskie Błonie where flowers were laid at the regiment’s monument, and a cavalry‑themed picnic featuring historic equipment. Mayor Rafał Bruski praised the event as a reaffirmation of local and national identity.

In the village of Gronków, the 75th anniversary of the LKS Gronik football club and the 30th anniversary of the Związek Podhalan’s Gronków branch were commemorated. The day began with a mass, followed by a parade to the local stadium, award presentations to long‑serving athletes and volunteers, and performances by a regional folk band and the village brass orchestra.

Both events highlighted community pride, the preservation of historical traditions, and the role of local organizations in fostering cultural continuity.
