Polish towns restore historic facades and fountains

In Wodzisław Śląski, six historic tenement houses in the Old Town – five on Rynek Street and one on Sądowa Street – have had their facades renovated. The work included thorough cleaning, repair of damaged plaster, repainting while preserving architectural details, and restoration of features such as the statue of St. Lawrence and window sills. City officials say the refreshed facades improve the appearance of the historic centre for residents and visitors.

In Świdnica, the small sandstone fountain "Mały Talerz" on the market square, erected before 1740, has been out of operation since May 2024 despite a major 1.3 million‑złoty renovation in 2018 and a recent repair contract valued at about 90 thousand złoty. Municipal authorities have not provided a reason for the continued malfunction, and the fountain remains non‑functional.
