Polish towns warn residents over waste segregation and collection delays

The Gmina Niechanowo municipal office reports repeated cases of improper segregation of municipal waste, especially bio‑waste. Officials remind residents that only fruit and vegetable scraps, coffee grounds, tea leaves, grass, leaves, small branches, wilted flowers and eggshells may be placed in bio‑bins, while meat, fish, dairy, fats, animal waste, ash, soil, stones, plastics and oily food residues are prohibited. Failure to comply can trigger a higher waste‑collection fee of 78 zł per month per resident, and residents are urged to use proper containers or the local selective‑collection point on Gnieźnieńska 3.

In the neighboring Gmina Lubin, the municipal waste‑management company announced that a breakdown of two waste‑collection vehicles has caused delays in scheduled pickups. The delays are expected to continue until the end of the week, and the company apologised for the inconvenience while promising to update residents on revised collection times.
