Polish transport firms grapple with driver shortage and digital tools

Poland's transport sector faces a severe shortage of professional drivers, now estimated at about 120,000 and projected to rise to 150,000 by 2030. Companies report up to 20% of their fleets idle and many smaller firms are closing as they cannot replace staff. The average driver is 45 years old, with only 3% under 25, highlighting demographic challenges.

At the same time, new regulations and rising operational costs are pushing firms toward comprehensive digital management solutions. Systems such as PasCom automate invoicing through the national e‑invoice platform KSeF, generate statistical reports for GUS, and provide HR modules for tracking driver work time, delegations and compensation. The push for paper‑free, integrated software aims to improve efficiency and maintain competitiveness amid the labor crunch.
