Polish universities featured in Global Ranking of Academic Subjects 2026

The Shanghai Ranking Consultancy has released the 2026 Global Ranking of Academic Subjects (GRAS), evaluating approximately 2,000 universities across more than 100 countries. The ranking assesses 57 scientific disciplines based on indicators such as publication volume, citation impact, international collaboration, and prestigious awards.

Jagiellonian University achieved recognition in 12 disciplines, the highest number among Polish institutions. Its top-performing fields include mathematics, physics, and psychology, all ranking within the 151–200 range. Other notable placements include clinical medicine (201–300) and biological sciences (201–300).

University of Warsaw was ranked in seven disciplines, showing improvements in physics, sociology, and mathematics compared to 2025. The university maintains leadership in Poland across four fields: physics, sociology, earth sciences, and computer science and engineering. Notably, its sociology department rose to the first position in Poland.
