Polish universities secure EU funding for fishery education and sustainable water management projects

The Faculty of Animal Bioengineering at the University of Warmia and Mazury launched the EDU‑FISH program, a five‑year EU‑funded initiative (23.9 million PLN total, 16.66 million PLN EU co‑financing) aimed at training specialists in fisheries, ichthyology and aquaculture. The project will provide scholarships, modern laboratory equipment and practical training for future technicians and engineers in inland fisheries.

The Faculty of Forestry and Wood Technology at the University of Life Sciences in Poznań joined the Horizon Europe‑funded AquAKIS project, a consortium of 24 partners from 16 EU countries. Led by Prof. Kinga Stuper‑Szablewska, AquAKIS develops tools and case studies for sustainable water management in agriculture and agro‑forestry under climate change, testing solutions in 14 countries and supporting farmers and advisors with knowledge‑transfer platforms.
