Polish universities secure EU funds for chemical research and sustainable packaging

Polish technical universities are securing significant European Union funding to advance chemical research and sustainable industrial applications.

Lodz University of Technology is establishing the Laboratory of Innovative Chemistry and Chemical Technologies (LICHTCH). With a total project value exceeding 21 million PLN, including 13.8 million PLN from European Funds, the facility will provide advanced research infrastructure for advanced materials and chemical processing. The laboratory aims to bridge the gap between science and business by supporting regional small and medium-sized enterprises.

Separately, Gdańsk University of Technology is collaborating with the company PLASTPOM on the PLASTPOMCoolBioPack project. This initiative, valued at approximately 2 million PLN, focuses on developing biodegradable packaging for delicate fruits like blueberries and raspberries. The project aims to create moisture-resistant containers with optimized ventilation systems to improve cooling efficiency and reduce reliance on traditional plastics.
