Polish universities secure nine medals at European Academic Games in Salerno

Polish student teams captured a total of nine medals at the European Academic Games held in Salerno, Italy. The Academy of Zamość dominated the table‑tennis competition, winning six medals: a gold in the team event, a gold and bronze in doubles, and a full podium sweep in singles. The team defeated the University of Pécs (Hungary) 3‑2 in the final after earlier victories over Austria, Germany, Italy and Slovenia.

The University of Rzeszów added the ninth medal, a gold in men’s football, after a dramatic final against the University of Würzburg that ended 3‑3 and was decided by penalty kicks. Other Polish universities also earned medals in beach volleyball, 3×3 basketball, handball and other sports, underscoring a strong overall performance by Polish higher‑education athletes.
